Ghandi (*Ghazon x *Ghazara)

Ghandi was bred in the United States by Darlene Steven from two imports by Hans and Leni Walter, formally of Switzerland in the 1980’s. Ghandi is the only intact son of Ghazon (Haladin ox x Ghasala). Haladin was a chief sire at Weil Marbach, Germany before retiring to the Gestuet Walters. Ghazon was shown by Frau Gertrude von Kleist in German and was the Champion at the Hamburg show. Ghazon also received the Silver Medal from the German Government for the breeding of Sport horses. Ghazara was bought from the Walters who later moved to South Carolina and lived out her life in Kentucky producing Ghandi and Zinger (Shagya XLII-1 x Ghazara) for Darlene Steven while she was the Director of the Paramount Arabian Riding Club in the 90’s. During her years at PARC, she was used as a dressage lesson horse for both children and adults. Ghandi is a versatile driving, halter, jumping and dressage riding horse. He was broke trained by Darlene Steven, and later spent time in advanced Dressage training with Francois Lemaire de'Ruffieu, author, instructor, international clinician and master horseman. Francois Lemaire was a rider with the Cadre Noir and graduate the Riding School at Samuer, France, author of the Handbook of Riding Essentials and the Handbook of Jumping Essentials. Ghandi has been use by Francois Lemaire as an exhibition horse for upper level dressage -long line training demonstrations. In 2002, Ghandi successfully completed ISR Stallion Testing at Paxton Farm, under the testing manager Helmut Surant. The Surant and Stockinger family is best known for importing Oldenburg stallion Frohwind and crossing them with two imported Shagya mares Anja and Anke who's get were approved for the Oldenburg Premium Studbook. Since that time Ghandi has been shown in by Darlene Steven’s students in riding and shown in halter to many Championships. He has been the year-end High Point Champion for Shagya Halter at the Winter San-n-tone Series as well as Champion at the Bluegrass Arabian Spring Blast Show and Kentucky Arabian Horse Association All Breed Show. In 2007, Ghandi was the American Shagya Arabian Verband, Just Do It Year-End National High Point Stallion Halter Horse. He was approved by the ASAV for breeding at 2004 Evaluations. Ghandi stands near Louisville, Kentucky and has only produced fillies as of current. He is enrolled in the Kentucky Breeders Incentive Fund, which means that his get (offspring) are eligible for KyBIF money through points earned at horse shows or compete at distance events. Ghandi will also participate in the ASAV Jump Start breeders incentive program in 2009.
